How can you know that you are among God's elect? How did Paul know the Thessalonians were elect (1 Thessalonians 1:4)? Answer: The gospel having come to you in power is the revelation that you are indeed the elect of God. But how can you know the gospel has come to you in power, and not in word only? The Bible warns that countless souls will perish forever in Hell after wrongly believing that all was well with their souls (Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23; Luke 13:23-24)!

It behooves us, therefore, to understand and to know what the gospel effects in its recipients, because our eternal destiny depends upon it!

"Wherever and whenever the gospel comes in power, it effects in every one to whom it comes the same basic things that it effected in the Thessalonians!" — Albert Martin (13:40)
