Many top entrepreneurs work at home, but they need to follow these 5 strict rules to succeed!
If you want to make money by working from home, as a professional voiceover or with any job, follow these 5 simple tips…
1.Pretend you really are away from home. Imagine it takes commuting time just to leave the study to the kitchen! You’ve just got to imagine that the doorway to your home office, is that long to walk through. If you get into that mindset, you won’t be tempted to constantly pop out to the kitchen or have a stroll around.
2. Chunk your time! 25 minutes working at home and 5 minutes break works very well. This is a very well-known and used technique, and it depends what type of work you are doing, but usually, it consists of 25 minutes of constant work, followed by five minutes of other time which could be simply going on a stroll in your garden if you have one, making a cup of coffee or tea, or doing a quick errand in the house.
3. Up your tech skills and use internet conferencing. Learn more general computer literacy skills, if you need this yourself. This really will pay off generally in your life anyway, as we all need and going to use technology more and more. The speed of the Internet and the availability of virtual meeting software has improved dramatically over the years, so instead of driving to people’s locations, replace physical meetings with phone calls or have face-to-face virtual meetings using one of a variety of systems out there.
4. Just ignore chores and house work. Because you are now so physically close to any mess at home, don’t be tempted to do it during your precious work time. Designate an actual time when you are “home”, and you can do all the tidying up then!
5. Zone in and concentrate – Switch your phone off or put it somewhere else, and don’t even have your email program running on your computer screen if you are concentrating on writing a presentation, report, proposal, or whatever. You won’t believe how efficient this will make you, as it will help you totally concentrate on what you’re doing.
