This offer makes the Faculty one of the most important references in the Basque Country in the training of professionals capable of playing a crucial role in some of the main challenges of our society: development of new technologies, sustainable development, environmental conservation, etc.
The Faculty has around 3000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as around 400 teachers and some 300 researchers who make up a highly qualified team distributed in 18 Departments and 2 Departmental Sections, covering most of the areas of scientific-technical knowledge. It brings together the largest set of resources for R+D+i in the Basque Country, generating a large part of its scientific production. Its intense research activity is reflected in the large number of research projects awarded, the high number of scientific publications and more than 100 Doctoral Theses defended annually.
The Faculty of Science and Technology (ZTF-FCT) has proceeded to adapt the values and organisational culture of the centre to the principles of Total Quality, using the EFQM Model of Excellence as a reference, which resulted in the award of the Silver Q in December 2006. In 2016, the centre obtained the Silver A for the Basque Prize for Advanced Management, after passing an external evaluation of its management system carried out by the Euskalit Foundation, and in January 2017 the certification issued by UNIBASQ for the implementation of its Internal Quality Guarantee System, in accordance with the guidelines of the AUDIT Programme. The last milestone in this sense took place with the resolution of 30 October 2018 of the Council of Universities that recognises the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
