Drummoyne Swimming Centre car park safety issues

Drummoyne Swimming Centre car park safety issues This is a follow up to a video that I did earlier in the week about drivers charging in and out of the Drummoyne Swimming Centre car park without looking or stopping. I trawled through my old video files and managed to find a few incidents that illustrate the problem. This is by no means all the incidents I've witnessed at this car park - these are just the ones I could find in a 15 minute search.

There are two main problem here. One is that drivers are primarily looking for gaps in the oncoming traffic - which can be quite heavy on weekends - and they aren't looking at the Bay Run shared path whilst they are doing that. Their only concern is finding a gap in the traffic - and when they get one, they charge across without any concern for the people on the path who might be about to cross the car park entrance.
The second is that the sight lines when exiting the car park are terrible. Council allowed the entrance/exit to be built hard up against a tall building that almost abuts the path, so your sight lines to the left as you exit the car park are almost zero. On the right, the plants in the garden along the fence often grow to a size where they block visibility in that direction too.
These problems could be remediated by:
1. Installing mirrors at both sides of the entrance to provide drivers with visibility in both directions
2. Putting a speed bump across the mouth of the entrance to force drivers to exit slowly
3. Put up signage at the exist informing drivers they must give way to anyone on the path when exiting
4. Consider installing a concrete median strip in front of the car park to prevent people turning right into the car park (across traffic) or exiting (turning across traffic). I'm sure that will go down like a lead balloon, as driver convenience always seems to trump safety.
