Understanding that your side and down imaging returns depend on a variety of factors like bottom composition (hard or soft), the speed of your boat, the color palette you have chosen, and most importantly, your transducer installation. Also knowing that these settings and sonar returns will look different on different bodies of water, or even different areas of the lake.

The takeaway: the settings are great out-of-the-box, so fine-tune slightly to get the best image.
