The Borno state Governor had confirmed the death of 30 people in Auno town, when Boko Haram infiltrated the town and wreak havoc in the town, killing more than 30 and destroying property worth millions of Naira. Boko Haram insurgents had attacked Auno town on Sunday night around 9:30pm according to an eyewitness the insurgents came with Bicycles and attacked commuters who were spending the night in the town due to closure of the road by the Nigerian Army.
More than 30 people had been reportedly killed including women children and many others were badly injured, they have also razed dozens of trailers loaded with food items and Motor vehicles heading to Maiduguri.
The Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has visited Auno town to sympathise with the people affected by calamity and assured government commitment toward combating insecurity in the region.
He urged the people to be law abiding citizens and give the security operatives maximum support in dealing with the menace of terrorism.
Also confirming the incident the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya dole Maj.Genaral Kingsley Adeniyi reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian troops in ending the insurgency
He says it is all hands on deck getting to the end of the insurgency.
The Theatre Commander had warned commuters to stop plying the Maiduguri-Damaturu road and the other Highways in the night to avoid being raided by the insurgents.
He added that the presence of the commuters in the night will jeopardise the operation of the military in the night.
