NWC Guidelines for High-rise Developers, Purchasers & Occupants | National Water Commission @NWCjam

NWC Guidelines for High-rise Developers, Purchasers & Occupants | National Water Commission @NWCjam The National Water Commission wishes to remind the public that the supply of piped water above the 2nd floor in high-rise buildings is to be done through a private, on-property, pressurized system and NOT DEPEND on direct supply from the NWC system.

Both the Regulations to the NWC Act and the Conditions of Approval given to developers of high-rise buildings stipulate that high-rise complexes must make appropriate arrangements to lift and store water for higher floors.

The NWC is mandated to deliver water to customers’ property boundaries between 20 and 60 psi.

As stated in the Conditions of Approval, all buildings over 2 stories high must provide:
I. A tank at ground floor level with a capacity of at least two day’s supply;
II. A roof tank with a capacity of not less than one day’s supply;
III. Booster pumps in duplicate, each capable of delivering water drawn from the ground floor tank into the roof tank.

As the NWC actively manages excessive pressures that is the cause of frequent pipeline breaks on its water supply network, persons at higher floors in high-rise complexes might not receive water without the use of their private, onsite, pressurized systems.

Persons living in or responsible for high-rise complexes without the required on-site pressurized systems are urged to install such systems immediately where none currently exists.
