Our mission is to reimagine public education in low-income communities of color to prepare conscious, critical thinkers who are equipped to graduate from college and create a more equitable and sustainable world. ECS campuses are alive, with more than 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables, living streams, school-wide composting and solar-powered greenhouses. Our schools offer students and teachers a living platform through which they are able to explore solutions to current real world challenges, and have consistently produced students who are prepared for college, motivated to continue learning, and driven to contribute to their communities.
At Environmental Charter Schools,
- 100% of ECHS graduates completed the A-G requirements (compared to 45% in California)
- 97% of graduates gained acceptance to a four-year university (compared to 45% in CA)
- 86% of ECS graduates are the first in their families to go to college.
- Both ECMS- I and ECHS were honored as one of 279 schools recognized as part of the inaugural annual report, Top Los Angeles Public Schools for Underserved Students, based on their strong results in English and/or Math proficiency for low-income African American and/or low-income Latino students in 2017-18.
